Developing a Patient Spirit

Have you ever met a peaceful, patient person who embodies the true meaning of what it means to be free of disturbance? This person lives a tranquil life, not “sweating the small stuff” and being carefree. Well there are some benefits to developing a patient spirit. Here are some tips to applying patience to your character:

1. Welcome Delays
Throughout our day we are delayed and held up in many ways. The coffee shop line is always too long; we are frustrated while stuck in traffic and our computers take too long to boot up. These are all elements of life, which are not under our control, and often if we try to control them we end up worse off than we started. The best way to develop a patient spirit is to consider the fact that some circumstances are unavoidable and we must be patient and wait through them. No matter how long you wait, find ways to enjoy your quiet time through a day of chaos, noise and control. Embracing quiet can also allow you to be in a state of calm and bring mental stability.

2. Learning to Be Patient
In order to overcome impatience, this requires a change in your attitude about life. When you are able to relax and accept the fact that in non-peaceful, impatient situations you are not in control; you are taking necessary steps to make a change.

3. Understand that Change is Progressive
Taking time to change your decision-making process can be progressive and take time. Small steps are the most important in the scheme of long-term character development. Remind yourself that things take time, and you will resume your progress or achieve your outcome after time has passed.
